Welcome to our Capital Campaign!
Restoration work on our beloved building began in the spring of 2024, but the vision and initiative took root a year before that. It became clear that time had taken its toll—the years had caused havoc on the structure, and no major work had been done since the 1990s. The time is now—if we want to preserve this space for future generations, we must act.
For over a century, our 115-year-old building has stood as a pillar of the Boise community, providing a safe haven for those in need. The Children's Home has been a place where children and families have found affordable and accessible mental health care. But to continue fulfilling this mission, we must restore and enhance its facilities.
With your support, we can honor its rich history while strengthening its future. Your generosity will ensure that this building remains a beacon of hope, healing, and community for generations to come.

We are excited to share the detailed phases of our restoration project, which will breathe new life into our historic building while preserving its legacy for future generations. Each phase is a critical step in ensuring this space continues to serve as a vital resource for families in our community. From foundational repairs to modern upgrades, every improvement has been carefully designed to create a safer, more welcoming environment.
Below is an overview of each phase of the project. We've included a few photos to give you a glimpse of the work in progress, but for a full list of updates and more photos, please contact us directly. Together, we can ensure that this historic building remains a cornerstone of support for years to come.
Phase 1 of our restoration project focuses on stabilizing and preserving the foundational elements of the building, ensuring it remains structurally sound and safe for future generations. This includes critical roof repairs, shingles replacement, and seismic chimney repairs.
Here's what that means:
Roof Repairs & Shingles Replacement:
Over time, the roof has experienced wear and tear from exposure to the elements. The old shingles are beginning to deteriorate, leaving the structure vulnerable to water damage. By replacing the shingles and repairing the roof, we will protect the building from leaks and moisture, which could lead to more extensive damage if left unaddressed. This step is essential for preserving the integrity of the building’s upper structure and preventing any future issues that could disrupt the services we provide.
Chimney Repairs:
The historic chimney, while a beautiful architectural feature, requires repairs to ensure it remains stable and safe. Over the years, seismic shifts, weather, and general wear have taken a toll on the chimney’s structural integrity. This phase will involve reinforcing the chimney to ensure it meets modern safety standards while preserving its historic charm. This is especially important in areas prone to seismic activity, as the building must remain safe for both staff and visitors.

Phase 2 focuses on the essential interior renovations needed to ensure the building is safe, functional, and welcoming for the families we serve. This phase will address structural repairs, improve accessibility, and modernize key areas to enhance the overall experience within the building.

In Phases 3 and 4, we’ll complete essential structural repairs, exterior updates, and final enhancements to create a safe, accessible, and welcoming space for all.
These phases focus on reinforcing the building’s core structure and improving its exterior, while also ensuring the surrounding grounds are inviting and functional for the community.
