The Children’s Home Society of Idaho Announces Name Change for Counseling Center

The Children’s Home Society of Idaho (CHS) is pleased to announce a significant update: their longstanding Warm Springs Counseling Center will now operate under a new name, Children’s Home Counseling Services (CHCS), consolidating under the umbrella of The Children’s Home Society of Idaho. This change aims to streamline their identity and better reflect the organization’s comprehensive range of services.

Since its establishment in 1908 by O.P. Christian with support from community leaders C.W. Moore and Gov. Frank R. Gooding, The Children’s Home Society of Idaho has been dedicated to providing essential support for children in need. As societal needs shifted, so did their mission, leading to the inception of the Warm Springs Counseling Center in 1975. Originally an orphanage, the organization transitioned to meet the critical need for outpatient mental health care for children, particularly those from low-income families.

Over the years, the Warm Springs Counseling Center has expanded beyond traditional counseling to include peer and support groups, community events, and outreach efforts in Meridian and beyond the Treasure Valley. This growth underscores the organization's commitment to comprehensive community support and advocacy.

The Children’s Home Society of Idaho remains steadfast in its commitment to providing equitable access to mental health care for all children, regardless of financial circumstances or support systems. Through donor support, fundraising efforts, and innovative services, the organization continues to uphold its mission of ensuring every child receives the care they deserve.

Our mission is to provide exceptional mental and behavioral health care to all children, guided by a team of dedicated and compassionate professionals. We are committed to ensuring that every child receives the highest standard of support and care.

Vision

Our vision is to be a leading provider of accessible, affordable, and comprehensive mental health care. We strive to elevate mental health to the same level of importance as physical health, fostering overall wellness for all children and their families.

"A child's mental health is just as important as their physical health and deserves the same quality of support."

-Princess Catherine of Wales

Providing mental health care services is a large part of what we do. However, we also strive to educate and bring awareness to our community on the importance of mental health.

We work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and help prevent feelings of shame, embarrassment, and loneliness. Reducing stigma helps children and family members access our resources, programs, and services here at the Children’s Home.

"All children deserve proper mental health care."

-Children's Home Society of Idaho

Whether or a not a child has the financial means, the transportation, or their family's support, all children have the right to receive proper mental health care. That is why we make it our daily mission to be a place for all children. Whether that is through paying for their services from the support of donors and fundraising, providing counseling in telehealth, we will always live by our philosophy that all children get the proper care that they deserve.
